One of the main goals for Cirlam this year is to obtain the GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) certificate according to the OECD Principles.
GLP is defined in the OECD Principles as: “… a quality system concerned with the organizational process and the conditions under which non-clinical health and environmental safety studies are planned, performed, monitored, recorded, archived and reported”.
The principles may be considered as a set of criteria to be satisfied as a basis for ensuring the quality, reliability and integrity of studies, the reporting of verifiable conclusions and the tractability of data.
To become a GLP certified laboratory, a pre-inspection has to be carried out, this is because it is the first time the Test Facility has to be inspected.
A pre-inspection is planned to familiarize the GLP inspector with the management structure, the physical layout of buildings, the documentation system and the range of studies of the Test Facility.
The GLP pre-inspection took place on Wednesday January 13, 2010 under the lead of GLP coordinator Mr. Guido Jacobs, of the Belgian GLP monitoring authority.
To obtain the GLP certificate, a full Test Facility inspection and study audit has to be done within a delay of 6 till 12 months after the pre-inspection.
